Another pleasant walk on your doorstep

Sunday is Walking Day for my son and i and of course the three labs and their best mate Ivey the German Sheppard.

It was looking like rain, so we decided somewhere close would be the better option. To be fair, we are spoiled for choice around us with a massive choice but we decided to go down Mill Lane between Grassmoor and Tupton, even down there we are spoilt for choice with so many variations.

All the dogs love to swim so a river or a pond needed to be taken into the equation.

We parked along the railway lines and ventured up the slight incline towards the old shuntter bridge all dogs showing their appreciation both vocally and physically with the barking's of demented demons and tails wagging out of control.

Tango took the lead and independently wandered off on her adventure, Ivey just decided to start her normal tormenting of Poor Popcorn who just looked at me for so form of relief from her constant unwanted attention. Mo Mo although in her twilight years never gives up and still reminds them she wants to be involved.

The gate of the top of the pathway was opened and they all sprinted to the muddy River Rother, which was flowing extremely fast but this wouldn't deter them in the slightest except for Mo who considered this was not for her and just stood on the bank and watched the other three frolic in the water collecting the branches that Ollie was tossing into the river.

This continued for a while and even though the current was rapid they never missed a stick and would probably have still been there now if we hadn't got to get off to watch the football.

We continued along the riverside slipping and sliding and were rather relieved to to get back on the shale path back towards the van before the heavens opened again

All dogs are exhausted and ready for a kip and me, well lets just say I was looking forward to watching the match in the comfort of my armchair
