Best things in life are free

Sunday Dinner time i arranged to meet my son and his dog halfway from his long treck from Danesmoor to Hasland.

I parked the van down Mill Lane in between Grassmoor and Tupton. I opened the van doors and released the hounds and the venture began.

we went in the direction of Tupton across the old shunter bridge and came to the path that leads down towards the river Rother.

The dogs excitedly ran down the steps towards the river and came to a closed gate. this was no problem for MoMo and Tango who stealthily slipped under the gate and continued towards their desired destination the fast-flowing river.

Poor popcorn who is carrying a little to much weight just sat there crying she was never going to fit under the gap

I opened the gate and she joined the party we continued for a few hundred yards and to the delight and surprise of the labs when Ivey came bounding down the muddy path towards them and the fun began.

Within seconds they were all in the river retrieving sticks and having the time of their lives it made amazing viewing and they played until exhaustion.

We continued beside the river for a few more minutes until we came back to the main shale path.

We made our way back to the van which was nicely interrupted by meeting a few of our customers walking their dogs and a few old friends/

It was a lovely day and a pleasure to be with my son and his dog and it was all for free and made you appreciate the beauty on our doorsteps.

We so often take for granted the simple things in life and what pleasure a nice dog walk can bring.
