This means pet owners want their pets to eat, celebrate, and even live in ways similar to their own. Examples include feeding pets similar diets, celebrating their birthdays, and creating social media accounts for them.

This trend is particularly strong in Asia-Pacific, especially in China, where 55% of pet owners view their pets as children, 28% see them as family members, and 7.5% consider them friends. Globally, 71% of pet owners treat their pets as beloved members of the family.
